In Britain all overseas pupils under the age of 18 who attend a boarding school must have a Local Guardian. Guardians have numerous roles and they will be required to act as your representative to make some decisions for your child including: signing forms, attending meetings at school and being available in an emergency. Guardians may need to assist with transport to and from school or from airports etc. In addition, they are sometimes required to be in charge of financial matters such as ensuring money for trips is paid. Currently Local Guardians can only be offered in London.
